Do we have to choose between nature and climate?

In Norway wind industry is allowed to destroy untouched nature areas with biological diversity. The thinking might be that to produce renewable energy for export and become The Green Battery of Europe – is so important, that it is OK to destroy beautiful wild nature in remote areas. Here are 4 alternative steps:

1)Genetic diversity is a higher risk than climate change.

2)Others says biological diversity is equal important threath as climate change.

3)The choise is not – either protect climate or genetic diversity.

4)Neuro tip: Shift from thinking - to wholeness brain network

1)Genetic diversity is a higher risk than climate change.

Stockholm Recilience Center has modeled 9 planetary boundaries among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The research is headed by well known scientists as Johan Rockström, Jørgen Randers and Per Espen Stoknes. They have ranked the planetary bondaries according to highest risk and increasing risk.

We are in high risk in the nitrogen and phoshorus cycles, and genetic diversity loss.

We are in increasing risk in change of land use, and climate change.

Nitrogen, phosphorus, genetic diversity, land use – are higher threaths than climate.

2)Others says biological diversity is equal important threath as climate change.

OK, both views might be summed up in that - we cannot solve one by destroying the other. We cannot produce renewable energy by changing land area use so that it destroys untouched nature with habitats of genetic diversity.

3)The choise is not – either protect climate or genetic diversity.

We have to go beyond «saving climate» by destroying nature! Genetic diversity and climate to be solved together! The solution is to save both, through cooperation, synergy.

4)Neuro tip: Shift from thinking - to wholeness brain network

*Our logical thinking and executing brain (CEN) might remember 4-7 words at a time. It is our talent to focus on 1 issue at a time: Renewable energy. Take climate action. The question may be stated: What is most important: Renewable energy or genetic diversity? But his is an insufficient question!

*Before we shift brain network – we need to reduce stress, calm down and relax: It is shown to be effective to yawn-stretch superslowly-observe without judging what feelings, thoughts, sensations, memories that pops up. When relaxed: Then:

*When we reflect on the wholeness and stroke balance between nitrogen, phosphorus, genetic diversity, change land use – before climate action – we use a more complex brain network than the logical thinking network: We need a wholeness overview balancing system level brain network, called Salience network (SN). The question may be stated: How may we solve the wholeness and find a balance between climate action and biological diversity?
